Just wanted to stop by and see if I could get a response. My name is Gillian Carney (Karen's dauter) and I'm one of the people (along with my cousins) that Spider's Dance was dedicated to.

If Joanne could email me to say hello, I'd be very happy!

 –   URGENT request from Morning Calm magazine
My name is Niels Footman and I am the editor of the English section of Morning Calm, Korean Air's inflight magazine.

Every month we have a section with the self-explanatory title "Animals." For our July issue, we'd like to run a piece on the life cycle of giant pandas, from birth to adulthood, and we'd really like someone with first-hand experience of pandas to write it.

Given that you've written a book on pandas, we'd be delighted if you'd agree to do it for us. Unfortunately, we are rather tight for time. We'd need something from you by as close to May 12th as possible, and absolutely no later than the 14th.

We would also be interested in using any pictures you might have of pandas at different ages, or better yet, a single panda (Hua Mei, for instance) at different ages.

If you're interested in writing this article for us, please contact me as soon as possible and I can give you more details.

Best

Joanne: I remember when you visited Dubuque in 1993. You gave our library your book about the 17 year cicadas. They are back, altho not this far west yet. In Chicago over the weekend, my grand daughter and I saw and heard thousands. Wish you had been with us.

when someone sets up a website unbeknownst to you!:-) Remember when we had no idea what a website was? I've been thinking about you and hope all is well. I'm still happy being a natural-born librarian, and and even learning to sing, which if you remember, was not one of my natural-born talents! Isn't life interesting now that we've gotten to an age we never thought we'd be? Debby

 –   Laurence Yep photo
Good afternoon, Ms. Ryder:

I'm writing to ask if it would be possible to get a portrait photograph of Mr. Yep for a book on Chinese Americans, which will be published in the fall of 2008 by Mason Crest Publishers, a publisher of YA series nonfiction. I'd also be interested in a photo of you and Mr. Yep together. I would need the pictures to be high resolution—ideally at least 5x7 at 300 dpi or larger. If you have any questions, please give me a call at (609) 3970-4005, or contact me via email at jgallagher@ottnpublishing.com.

I appreciate any help you can provide. Have a nice weekend.
Sincerely, Jim Gallagher

 –   Portraits of Joanne & Larry
Dear Joanne and Larry,
I'm writing from a picture library in the UK - www.writerpictures.com - We've been asked to research portraits of both of you for an upcoming textbook. We found a small portrait of Larry taken by you Joanne but we need a hi-res file? Is that something you could send on to us? We would also need a portrait of you Joanne or perhaps a portrait of you together? If any of this is not possible or if you would be happy to pose then we'd be very happy to come and take some new portraits of you.

many thanks in advance
Alex

 –   National Poetry Month Interview
Dear Joanne,
Last year during the month of April I wrote a series for my blog (The Miss Rumphius Effect) entitled Poetry in the Classroom. Each day I highlighted a book of poetry or series of related poetry books on a single topic.

This year I would like to highlight a writer of poetry for children and/or young adults and their work each day, and I would love to include you. If you agree to participate, I would like to post your answers to a short series of interview questions. In addition to your responses I will also be including brief summaries/reviews of your work, as well as suggestions for teachers on reading/using your poetry in the classroom.

I hope you will say yes, but completely understand if have other commitments or simply prefer not to participate in this kind of event.

Thanks so much for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Tricia Stohr-Hunt
